barn fire

7/8/06

At approximately 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, Churubusco units were dispatched on a fire of unknown origin. Soon further reports came in that either the house or the barn were on fire or both. Further details came across advising there might be possible victims trapped inside.

First arriving units found heavy smoke and flames billowing from the barn, which began to ignite the garage attached to the home.

Crews focused their attention on the barn first because of exposure problems including fuel tanks nearby.

Other crews then entered the home to check for and extinguish any extension that had occurred. They did not find any extension and moved to the garage where the attic was found to be fully engulfed.

Units from Churubusco, Noble Townshihp, Avilla, Albion, LaOtto, Huntertown and Thorncreek all responded. Whitley County Medic 21 was on the scene and reported no injuries. Noble County Sheriff's deputies assisted with blocking the road and directing assisting tankers to the scene.
